The only way to make Mega Ditto decent is to give it an ability like Imposter, except it transforms into the opponent's mega evolution, even if it's not mega evolved.

Even with +20 to speed, it's a speed tie on the turn it mega-evolves because Gamefreak cannot into coding.
See: Banette, Sableye, but also Lopunny, Beedrill, Diancie and any mega that REALLY wants it speed boosted when it mega evolves that has to run Protect.

That could possibly work as a balancing factor? Even if regular Ditto's using Imposter and can do shit the turn it Mega Evolves, it has to make it out of that turn in working order to be effective afterwards.
