YOOOOOOOO just hatched this and I'm pretty stoked since it's my first hatched shiny. Is the imperfect sp.def stat a death sentence though?
Also, first shiny stories.

Talonflame spends more time killing itself than killing its opponents though, so it's not like it'd be taking any hits that matter unless you're just bad at Pokemon. If it gets hit, you're trying to have it die, or you miscalculated an OHKO or something.

If it's not 24+, it's gonna be too trashy to use. Above that, it's not too much of a game-breaker, but you will be giving the RNG more chance to fuck you over.

Raise it and check its SpDef IV, and if it's lower than 24, you might want to box it. If it's of any condolence, I once hatched a shiny Gible with a 2 Atk IV

Talonflame doesn't really take any hits even with max defensive IVs, so I don't think you have to worry about that.

Talonflame can't take a lot of hits anyway since its main purpose is to be dealing out knockouts along with itself, so you're fine.

Raise it to level 50 and input the stats here. It'll give you a 1-point margin of error since each IV is 1 point at level 100. Make sure you don't have any EVs in the stats if you don't know them, or keep track of them while raising it.

the battle test automatically brings the pokemon to level 50, use that.
save before you use it though, so you can SR and don't have to go through all the battles

My first bred shiny was an eevee, but I was just breeding for extra eevees to evolve to complete the dex, so it had crap ivs. I traded it to a causalfag friend who was delighted to be able to get a shiny sylveon.

I took it to the battle test and put all the stats in the corresponding place.
Are his ivs in sp.def really that low?

Most special attacks going after are going to be Tbolt and HydroPump/Surf. It really doesn't matter.

Looks like it, but it won't be too relevant considering 31 HP IVs if you're not gonna run bulkyflame and you're playing level 50 on cart. IVs only have half their effectiveness.

If you're playing level 100 and you're running non-glass cannon, then you're kinda fucked.

So I was doing shit in my Ruby, since I got most done (barring the cryptic shit like Regis, or the Battle Tower), somewhere around 2009.

Suddenly, Route 113, and there's this sparkling green Spinda.

So it got caught.

Since then, I have encountered 5 random Shinies in my entire life, one of which escaped (Safari Zone, dammit) and one of them is Golden Magikarp found in G2 Lake of Rage, so it's not THAT useful.
