>>23347719There many things wrong with Gen V and I don't understand why /vp/ refuses to see that. This board has a massive boner for BW for whatever reason.
One of the first things that strikes me is the lack of big improvements. Gen II had the Special split, held items, breeding, Dark- and Steel-types and so on, Gen III had Natures and Abilities along with new EV/IV systems, Gen IV had physical/special split and online trading/battling, Gen VI introduced Mega Evolutions and Fairy-type, but Gen V... Gen V didn't really give us anything.
Another major flaw is the quality of the designs. Gen V Pokedex is the biggest so far but it's really a mixed bag. You can hide behind the cool Bug-types as much as you want but you can't escape the fact that outside of /vp/ pretty much everyone hates most of Gen V Pokemon. It's so far the only Generation where no starter is a fan-favorite since they're all hated, and in addition to that concepts and/or designs of Trubbish, Klink, Vanillite, elemental monkeys, genies, musketeers, Gothita, Throh, Sawk, Druddigon, Timburr, Patrat, and all of their evolutionary relatives are universally agreed to be among the worst in the entire series.
When it comes to graphics, Gen V is the only Generation so far to look worse than its predecessor thanks to those awful pixelated sprites. The Unova region is linear and thus many players find it boring, and the amount of handholding and legendaries both got out of hand. One thing that annoys me a lot in the games is that the Unova Pokemon evolve so goddamn late. This often means that I'm stuck with an NFE dead weight shitmon until I've beaten seven or even all of the eight gyms.
