There are two more games left this Generation, and here's what they could be.

1. They might be Kanto Remakes/Sequels.

2. They might be Kalos Sequels.

Assuming a game doesn't happen this year, 1 will probably happen next year. If there is a game this year, it's probably going to be 2. If we get Kanto Remakes/Sequels this Generation, than expect Kalos to be revisited in Generation VII.

I highly doubt it. And even it does happen, it'll be Red and GREEN because those were the original two Japanese (hence why the Gen III remakes were Red and Green.

Regardless, the only reason there would be a reason to make another remake of Kanto would be to introduce Mega Evolution (or something similar) to certain plot pivotal pokemon in that region. Kanto has none of those, without altering the story. All 3 starters have Megas, meaning that the Champion's strongest pokemon already has a mega, Mewtwo/Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres aren't plot relevant to Kanto, and Mewtwo already has TWO Mega Evolutions.

I could possibly see a Yellow remake with Pikachu getting a mega or something but that probably won't happen until the anime/games are confirmed to end.

I don't really think you have to worry about that outside of the Mega Evolution Specials. It's time has come and passed. Even by ORAS, it's time was over. It was the spotlight for X and Y, but not in ORAS, and I'm sure they'll have newer Mega Pokemon to hype over for the next games.

It wont happen because there's no need for Kanto remakes. People have been asking/expecting Hoenn remakes since HGSS was out and we got them 5 years later. People started asking for Kanto AND Sinnoh remakes after we found out ORAS is a thing so dont expect any of those remakes anytime soon. We need at least another generation for this to happen.

Not to mention there's not much kanto nostalgia after XY fulfilled that role

If GF were actually making decisions based on fan input, ORAS would have a Battle Frontier. Also, they tend to plan all games before a generation is released, if the "Johto" catch location in Diamond/Pearl, and the Fire/Leaf Trainers in Colosseum is any indication.

What I've been told is that it'll include Kanto and Johto, except you'll actually progress through it in that order. Also Johto starters are getting megas.
