The Gen 4 games, mainly Sinnoh, were unbearably slow and the navigation was extremely clunky when it came to the bag and boxes if I remember right they removed the group pick-up feature in those games until Black and White 2.
Anyway, the games generally just feel really unpolished especially when coming out of generation 3 which ran as smooth as a baby's behind at a solid 60fps while these games had frame drops in areas that had a few tall buildings like Hearthome.
Then there's a whole bunch of aesthetic stuff like the contests and BF that I won't go into detail about.
In all honesty gen 5 is what gen 4 should have been in terms of quality.
