Nah, they're going to let them sit there and rot even in the sequel.

I wish we had some kind of online format that mixed things up with random terrain, though. Maybe even some kind of full-on Battle Arcade ladder with things like random weather, random status, etc, and the system is more likely to benefit the player with the lower ranking, making it a bigger struggle to climb above the other players as the odds get stacked more and more against you. Having an actual aesthetic difference would just be icing on the cake.

So basically you're saying that the higher ranking player should start with their whole team asleep? You know that when you lose to somebody with a lower ranking than yourself, you take a huge hit in terms of points, meaning being matched up against somebody higher is already desirable, right?
