I've beaten Explorers of time, and I never really got how the soundtrack is considered GOAT. The only song I liked was the Sea of Time one.

Fucking this. HGSS's music was pretty meh-tier most of the time, and just didn't really capture the spirit of the original chiptune, so much so that I despised listening to the original music most of the time, and opted instead for the GB sounds.

ORAS on the other hand improved just about every song from RSE. In terms of remakes' music, ORAS beats out the other two by far.

The console games (Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, and Battle Revolution) have best soundtracks.

If by improve you mean just taking a midi of the original theme and placing repetitive drum beats over it with simply upgraded synthesized sounds, which is what basically 90% of ORAS soundtrack is, then yeah, the remake improved a lot.

The other two remakes actually remixed the music and made use of their respective systems' sound capabilities, and while ORAS was on a system where the music is streamed, the arrangers didn't put as much effort and care in to the soundtrack. Also I fail to see how there was more spirit in what you call the "original chiptune" when the music was very restricted then and was limited to only 3 or 4 tracks.

Not him, but I agree with him. The music in ORAS doesn't sound nearly as strong as it did in RS. The route themes, the battle themes, they sound weak compared to the originals.

no, just no. It's better than FRLG's but I wouldn't call it the best soundtrack by a longshot, Gen V and a sizable chunk of Gen IV just murders it. The Battle Frontier remix was nice but that was unfortunately soured by being used in the wrong context.

Not him but RSE had a clusterfuck for the soundtrack, just look at the wild pokemon battle music and how much they tried to fit into that, despite having decent composition for the main parts the minor parts ruined a lot of music because they were generally unfitting and ruined the mood it was trying to set.
The original sountrack is a prime example of more isn't always better. Thing is though, in gen 4 they seemed to have realised that with everything being relatively simple but in generation 5 they went right back and decided to add unnecessary parts to the music. Generation 6 seems to have gone back to a more simple and effective soundtrack and I can only hope they don't repeat their mistakes with generation 7.

Same way everyone did before.
I mean, it has "hype building" moments in the music personally but the problem is that they don't have that one portion where they focus on a single instrument and downplay the others.
If they adjusted the levels I reckon it wouldn't be as bad.
