I think tipping increases your style.

Here in burgerland servers have a stupidly small hourly wage, so most of their money comes through tips. So yeah, I give tips.

That's the sort of thing that requires either a change in legislation so that tips can't be substituted for a wage, or for literally nobody to tip.

There is no norm to tip where I live. Tipping something like the regular pizza delivery boy would be seen as somewhat weird. I only do it in exceptional cases.

There's a loophole that allows servers to be paid less than minimum wage, the wage for servers has been $2.13 an hour for a while. In most states, employers are supposed to make up the difference if you don't get at least minimum wage with tips, but this doesn't actually happen much in reality.

It's not required in America, however it is highly expected for you to because servers don't get minimum wage and the only way for them to make a living wage is to get tips. If you don't tip, it's seen as ripping the waiter off. Unless they do a horrific job or are rude, I make sure to at least tip 20%.
It's a shitty system, but I'm not going to take it out on a fellow working person.
