I havne't done a "Catch them all" run since gen 3.

It isn't hard. Just understand the GTS's arbitrary value system and trade down in a zig-zagging pattern to register everything.

Sometimes you can get lucky on the GTS, if some guy happens to want something easily obtainable.
I traded a Mismagius for a Zekrom and then a Ditto for a Dialga.
