Somewhat unrelated but which is better, Mother or EB?
I lost interest in the latter shortly after the credits that play halfway through the game (when you get coffee at the place where the pink blobs live) & don't know if I'll come back to it later or not... Should I try Mother?

Mother is alright. It has a bit of the same charm as EB, but it has a much slower pace and is much more of a grind-fest.

You should give it a shot, but if you lost interest in EB, I get the feeling you might lose interest in the first one much faster.

3 is probably the best one in the series in my opinion, plus it's kind of a continuation of Earthbound. Mother 1 is kind of slow-paced and forces you to grind a bit more.

Definitely play 3. It's really enjoyable and a must-play if you liked earthbound.

Mother 1 didn't age that well and is very slow-paced. It's ok if you want to play through it just to see what it's like or to get some of the pre-Earthbound plot, but it's nowhere near as enjoyable as 2 or 3.
