Ice now resists ground, flying and it's neutral to rock. Hail boosts ice pokemon defense by 50%.

Ice types get a heavily unneccessary buff for a type heavily built around being offensive.

And yet Gamefreak still makes defensive oriented ice-types.

Ice simultaneously resists ice, ground and flying. Ice + ground and ground + flying were formerly nearly unresisted combinations, and the only pokemon that resisted all 3 without the use of Levitate is fucking surskit. On top of that a rock neutrality makes it easily able to switch in to attacks. The hail buff is basically irrelevant but abomasnow appreciates it.

Ice goes from a glass cannon type to a necessary defensive type that actually slightly nerfed itself offensively.

There's no real point to being a glass cannon when you're slower than fuck or are made to be defensive. The only exceptions are Mamoswine, who is admittedly really good due to its good movepool and BST, and Weavile, who is what ice types should be more like.

Just because a type is more offensively oriented does not mean that they should be gimped absolutely everywhere else. Steel types are obviously more defensively built, but they still are effective against 3 types: Ice, Rock, and Fairy. Giving Ice only a single resistance, against itself for that matter, is inexcusable.

rock would be too overpowered. if you're going to buff its defenses you need to nerf its offenses at least a little. make rock resist ice
