I don't understand, vp.
Why is this board mostly convinced that there won't be a main game this year? I mean what's the proof of that? They usually came out in late October, it's only May.

Because most Pokemon games get announced by this time and the movie coming out markets nothing that could be exclusive to a new game.

There is no "proof" but there is evidence. There is also no "proof" that there IS a game coming out this year.

Personally, I'm thinking we'll get some sort of dual release of Delta Emerald and Z. Iwata himself said in a direct that they did BW sequels because people expected Grey and they wanted to shake things up and surprise everyone, and that they'd like to keep surprising people. I believe he more or less said "Yeah, don't expect XY sequels, but expect something different" in a roundabout way. With Emerald being hugely different from RS, not remaking it along with ORAS would be kind of stupid, and releasing it along-side Z would give them two very distinct games with potential for cross-trading event pokemon/items to unlock events in the opposite game, not to mention the similar arcs of two legends pitted against each other with a third intervening to maintain balance and matching color schemes. It may be a pipe dream but I don't think it's entirely out of the question.

There's still time for new games to be announced but at the same time its possible they wont release one this year but very early next year. Either way i dont believe we'll have to wait till fall 2016 for next games.

If nothing is announced before E3 I'd say yes.
Hell I'd say that if CoroCoro doesn't announce anything now we won't have a game this year but there are many clue of the existence of XY2, we haven't had a gap in year in major games since 2011 and Pokémon is the best selling IP on 3DS, so..I'd say there is a pretty good chance is XY2 this fall like usual.

right now my guess is

2016 - Kalos games, two different versions like 5th gen
2017 - gen 7

the year gap is so they can work on the Kalos sequel and the new gen.

Agree on the games, not the years.
XY2 this year, GEN VII the next.
Kalos2 is literally the game they have to do the least, most is recycled from XY and the 3D models are already done, I don't see why having NOW a gap year, seeing that XYORAS sold wonderfully and Nintendo needs this kind of success.
GEN VII on 3DS in 2016 because 2017 is too late. Probably there is going to be the NX by then, Pokémon is always one of the last IP to go to the new console so GEN VII on NX in 2017 it's too early but on 3DS it's too late (given also the probability of the NX being a home/handheld hybrid). Also the anime it's going to last stretching another year and an half top.
