I'm waiting for a Ghost/Fighting and a Ghost/Normal mon.

the problem with Ghost mons is that they're not balanced. I wish Drifloom was more useful.

Now I'm stuck in Smogon Ubers because I like Mgengar, Aegislash and Giratina-O in the team...

I don't really think there's a "best" type, because all can excel with proper support. Of course some are better as a standalone type, but don't knock a type just because it has poor offensive/defensive presence.

Fire/Water/Grass form a great core even though grass isn't regarded as good. Fairy/Steel/Dragon make a great core while all three are considered good, Fighting/Dark/Ghost makes another good core, and one that isn't considered as much is a grass/flying/rock core.

Best type: Steel, no contest. You could argue about its weaknesses being better offensively, but they're so good in the first place because they beat by far the best defensive type in Pokemon.
Favorite: toss-up between Bug and Electric.

My favourite type is probably Grass. I like ton of grass Pokemon and their moves are amazing.
Close runner-up is probably Ground. Earthquake is an awesome move and ground Pokemon designs appeal to me most of the time.

Dunno what the best type is. Steel, Ghost, Fairy are powerful. Flying is getting there as well (thanks to its new insanely useful abilities).

I take it by your distinguishing between "best" and "favorite" that "best" is to mean "most effective in PVP". Honestly, even with the introduction of Fairy type and other nerfs Dragon is probably still the best type. Even the shittiest Dragon-types are above-average Pokémon all around.
