Is it just me, or do Gold and Silver and their remakes kind of fuck you over if you want a Fire-type on your team? If you don't pick Cyndaquil at the start, until you begin the Kanto portion of the game your only options are unevolvable Vulpix/Growlithe and I think Magmar.

my most recent SS run was Magcargo, Jumpluff, Heracross, Magneton, Quagsire, and Weavile. Full 4x weakness run.

Like other anons said, a severe shortage of fire stones in Johto led to that. I didn't know they were at the Pokeathlon, when I went to buy a heart scale for piloswine, there weren't any. vulpix is cuter anyway

Honestly, I've never considered it cheesy to use trio legendaries like the beasts or the birds. They're about the same "power level" as starters or pseudos. Using Raikou on your main team isn't as easymode as, say, using Kyogre.

I don't like it how everything you use is slow as fuck. Think of all the time you wasted by needing to go second, and then getting hit with sand, and then being confused, and then needing to use potions, and then needing to heal, etc.

Welp, between playing Ruby back in the day and playing Alpha Sapphire now I've used four of these six, so I can certainly endorse most of your team. Mightyena seems like it would be kind of underpowered late game, but that's just my guess. Kecleon would be...interesting. Probably great for fucking with the AI.
