Dwindling Interest in Pokemon?

Anyone just feeling more and more detached from Pokemon as a whole as the days go by? I don't know why, I guess I'm just not feeling it anymore. Couldn't even finish the dex in ORAS when I did in XY, didn't breed, or even start competitive battling on it. As soon as I beat Zinnia I dropped it and moved on.

Never felt compelled to download Shuffle or Rumble World either. I feel like I'm drifting away from the franchise, but why? I was definitely riding ORAS hype train all the way till release, so what happened? Anyone else feel similar?

The main pokemon games are fundamentally the same thing. You're bound to get tired of it at some point. Also, the greater your hype, the more disappointed you'll be when reality doesn't meet your expectations.

I know exactly how you feel. I was really excited for ORAS as well. Then a friend bought it and started flaunting it in my face, making me beat gym battles for him, catch his legendary pokemon, ect. I started to get pissed and lost interest. I have been playing Shuffle and Rumble though, its something to keep me occupied for the most part. I just hope this is a phase and not permanent because I really used to love pokemon but now it just seems like a chore to play the main games.

I only follow the anime, but even that is getting hard with the General discussing Amour day-in-day -out and the dub being unwatchably shit. Watching subtitles doesn't work for me because my one-track mind can't process reading and watching at the same time. I can read and watch at the time, but I can't remember what I've watched later, making it hard to follow the series with any real connection to the characters and story.

I've just played again Platinium recently and I remember when I first got Diamond (lost it) when I was 12/13. I played it for hours, even after E4, just... doing nothing? Capturing new pokemon, training, exploring a bit etc...

Now, when I finish a game it's not the same thing, if there isn't any interesting thing to do (story, quest, legendary to find etc...) I just don't play anymore. I also got hyped as hell when ORAS was announced, as Hoenn is my first (before there were my brother's games) and favorite gen, but it was different. I don't know if it's for the graphics, the musics, me getting older, all of above or something else, but it really felt differently.

Now I'm just waiting for the next main game to be announced, jump on the hype train for a few weks/months, get the game, get excited as a kid, beat it in 15 hours, play a bit more, get bored again, and wait 6 to 9 more months until the next announcement.

I bled all I could from ORAS. Completed the Dex, got all the Pokemon that I truly like and now, well now it just kinda sits in my 3DS until Hoopa comes.
I'm still waiting for the ultimate game where it has all the regions and getting Legendaries are actually fun to catch.

I've never been the kind of person to stick with one thing for too long, rather cycle my interests around and come back to it later, so this is typical for me. That said the lack of postgame in gen 6 games hurts my interest bigtime.

I've made up for not wanting to play the games by working on my fakemon.

Yes. ORAS was the nail in the coffin. It's too easy even by heavily nerfing yourself. Fuck Pokemon and fuck GF. I sincerely hope they all die horribly.

Have you tried playing ORAS/XY in another language?
French or German mainly because most pokemon have different names.
I did this because I'm learning Deutsch for a year now and playing AS is somewhat helpful.
