Wasn't there a downside? Didn't GF kill injection somehow? Or is it still safe to keep injected mons in my game?

The updates to the games killed injection, as updating the games makes you get bad eggs (if you actually get to updating them without updating your console, which patches out the exploit to inject)

This doesn't affect me, but what the fuck Gamefreak.

It's pretty retarded that they coded something like that in, yet I can go online with rom hacks just fine.

Second 3DS or FIRM spoofing (only on 9.2 and below). Keep in mind that you might need a second copy of the game (preferrably just a cart copy since it can work unupdated on another console)
Also NTR CFW on new 3DS allows both firm spoofing and save file editing which goes unnoticed even with the latest updates, it's mostly the easier route to take, but it requires cubic ninja
