I think it's a cute relationship, but honesty I think the farthest it will get is Serena confessing. While the chances of her winning the Ash are not zero, and it is a possibility based on the show's current direction, it's more likely for Ash to win the league than for Serena (or any girl for that matter) to win her.

Honestly I think the entire pairing is built off of Serena's crush and that as characters they don't seem like a decent match. In fact as a character Serena is pretty boring, I don't understand why she's so popular.

I mean I'll give it credit for not being as bad as something like Pokeshipping but I genuinely don't see what people like about this pairing.

It's more that they're pretty much polar opposites in their behaviors and how they go about things but at the same time they still manage to come together without conflict.

the whole point is that they have different personalities that round each other out. ash is assertive but also a hothead, serena is timid but more composed. ash inspires her to be more confident and serena keeps ash grounded when he starts losing it.

they compliment each other well. Support each other and have trust and what not. If it was any other anime and not pokemon I'd think it would go canon. But its the pokemon anime so its just there to bait viewers.

of its course still cute but it takes a lot away when the ending of this sub plot is already written.
