Whenever it hits a flying/levitating/floating by other means pokemon the target becomes grounded, it loses its ground immunity. But the weird thing is the first turn it's used prior to grounding the opponent it hits all flying types for neutral damage, regardless of whether their secondary type is neutral, weak or resistant to ground. After they've been grounded the type effectiveness is calculated normally. But pokemon that aren't flying type, that float via balloon or levitate etc. do have type effectiveness calculated even on the first turn before they're technically grounded. IE rotom and gengar were both hit super effectively by thousand arrows and talonflame was only hit neutrally. But then Talonflame was hit super effectively the second turn.
