If they had used a three different types of monkey/ape for each of them, that would have been cool.
Maybe adopt an Eevee-style approach. Normal-type base form monkey baby. Then it evolves into a Fire-type orangutan, a Grass-type gorilla, or a Water-type chimpanzee. That could've been interesting.
