How do you come up with names of your Trainers? I always get both games, and my main I always choose Male w/ my name, but for girls, do you just use the Anime/Default name?

I stopped getting both games since Gen 4 with GTS.

I always name my character after their game and gender.

Picked Male in Omega Ruby and he's Ruby. Got Y, picked female, named her Yvonne, etc.

My decision for name choosing is so subjective and erratic, I'm pretty sure it'll get neurosurgeons scratching their heads trying to deduce a pattern.

At one point I gave up on naming them so I just decided "he's the hero of the game so I'll call him Hero." lead to a funny situation in Y, where I decided in honor of the edgy mascot I'd name my character Villain. Then when Serena started to get all sensitive and cry because I was crushing her dreams the name seemed kinda funny, as if the protag was bullying her on purpose. In AS I changed the name back to Hero

I play the male character on my carts so he's always named after myself. But when I'm emulating or restarting I'll play as the female, and I'll use one of the names I have picked out for my future daughter. Either Gwendolyn, Elizabeth, or Alexandra.

With normal play throughs I use Niko or Nikolaus with the newer games becuase of the extended letter cap. I use my own name for immersion into the Pokemon world. I've been using Niko as my trainer name since I was 5.

I always use my real name. I was almost tempted to go by my nickname when I started X because nobody really calls me my actual name except work colleagues and family but I'm glad I didn't because then I'd have been restarting after about 10 minutes of play.

Would be happy for future games to have a similar divide between what people call you and what's on your official trainer card/ID.
