Loses a bunch of resistances and an immunity, only x4 weakness becomes a x2 weakness, loses an useless STAB and gains a great one and it's one immune to spore moves. I'm not sure honestly, the loss of the EQ immunity hurts, but STAB on Solar Beam is quite amazing.

I would say it would make it in theory better but possibly not in battle. My favorite partners with the zard are landorus garchomp or terrakion for annoying spread damage. It would take away the eq immunity.
