No, it's mega aerodactyl all over again. So tough claws pursiut and knock off, but it doesn't matter for counter or low kick. It's main ice attacks ice shard, icicle spear, or icicle crash all receive no benefit. Technician gives good aid to moves of both Weaville's stab. Knock off after knock off, puirsuit, icicle shard and spear. It's the superior ability.

Weavile doesn't get icicle spear, knock off is the ENTIRE reason Weavile is BL this gen, tough claws STAB knock off is HUGE. Plus tough claws boosts ice punch which is a mere 10 bp less than crash before the boost while having 100% accuracy. It also boosts low kick, which is an important coverage move on weavile.

I agree technician would be superior (if weavile got icicle spear which it doesn't) but knock off is 5 bp outside of technician's threshold and wouldn't be boosted, you'd have to use either bite or punishment whixh which are weaker than the initial knock off, or beat up which would be extremely powerful but gimmicky. You do get pursuit but it's too weak to be your main dark stab.

Both Air Lock and Cloud Nine act the same. Keep in mind, both abilities were introduced at the same time, back when infinite weather abilities were a thing. Look at it like this.

Suppose I run Groudon, Rayquaza and four other pokemon that benefit from Drought. If Air Lock simply deleted the weather, the team would be a lot harder to run since it would rely heavily on Groudon staying alive. Since it doesn't work that way, all I have to worry about is keeping other weather users from ruining Drought. This also makes Rayquaza a better partner for Groudon since anyone who relies on weather to beat Groudon likely won't get past Rayquaza. This is also interchangeable with Sand Stream, Drizzle and Snow Warning carriers to an extent.

Cloud Nine and Air Lock need to differentiate somehow, I do agree.
