I've found Porygon2 to be far more useful, but I've mostly used it in doubles, where it's support and speed control are more useful.

porygon2 is better in most situations, as a bulky defensive mon. if you want to a special attacker then you should go with porygon z, however, there might be alternatives to z that outclass it.

i use porygon 2 a lot. it is very reliable.

They're both very cool but it depends what sort of spot you're looking to fill on your team. Back in gen 5 I had a mono Normal team that used both at one point.

Pory2 for excellent tankyness. If I wanted a bulky attacker, I'd use him.

If, however, I'm confident that I'll win, I'll use PoryZ. That's assuming Fake Out, Hazards, and Priority are out of the way. Seriously, he gets fucked over very easily if one doesn't utilize Bootleg Duck properly.

z for offense and stallbreaking

2 for never dying and making your opponent rage with boltbeam coverage + toxic recover stalling, as well as rarely tracing that protean or regenerator, among other premium abilities.

As everyone else has said, it depends on what role you need it to fit. 2 is a tank while Z tries to sweep, they're really not comparable.

The only thing O can give you is that 2 is pretty much the best at what it does, while Z has a tendency to be outclassed by other sweepers.

Use 2. Preferably with either of its abilities. Analytic gives you an advantage all the time, Download CAN POTENTIALLY give you a SpAtk boost, and Trace is for shits and giggles, until you get Protean, Competitive, or even Wonder Guard and Prankster, if you're lucky.

Z is alright, but it'll die very easily, and it has ugly speed which can be mitigated if you dance (which is dangerous to do, unless you have a Sash. Even then, everything else is a worry). Use Z correctly, and you'll have an intimidating sweeper. Don't give it Analytic, though.
