ITT: mechanics in pokemon you really dislike and think shoud be removed or altered from future games:

DVs yeah I dont wanna get hacked pokemon just to have em be usable online or spend 5 times as much time as breeding already takes.

Hidden abilities, sure you wanna promote your new feature but please give me a guy that unlocks hiddn abilities on pokemon for an item or so

Like, the fact that draco meteor missed doesn't invalidate the fact the pokemon still had to exert itself to use it, it should still get the spatk drop.

IVs are honestly Pokemon's worst mechanic. There are only four values that competitive players actually use: 0, 1, 30, and 31. The rest are just filler. Hell, in a perfect world we could choose which Hidden Power we wanted and only have to worry about 0 and 31. There are also numerous other ways to affect stat growth that are much, much easier to manipulate.

I get that GF has taken strides to make breeding easier and making IVs less transparent, but all this jumping through hoops could be completely avoided by removing the problem in its entirety instead of just putting a band-aid over it. I can't think of any reason to defend having 32 different IVs for each stat when a maximum of 4 is sufficient.

I think that they should give all pokemon the same limited amount of IVs, in the same way that EVs max out at 510. This would make IVs have to be carefully distributed and make better use of the system

Also HM system NEEDS an overhaul. Idk if this counts as "mechanics" per se, but using your pokemon outside of battle could be implemented so much more effectively and create a much more fun, diverse, and mentally stimulating experience

And regards to HMs, the only issue I see is that early ones need to suck so they don't always become first order dominant strategies - at first. There's still no reason they couldn't implement any late game NPCs that can ugrade all the shit ones into actually viable moves.

Ie,
HM Cut -> HM Night Slash
HM Flash -> HM Dazzling Gleam.

natures always give +10/-10 to a stat
EVs always have a maximum of 510
but fucking IVs can vary anywhere between 0/0/0/0/0/0 or 31/31/31/31/31/31 and it's retarded.

nature, EVs spreads, species, abilities, movesets, and gender already do this in a far more meaningful (and less frustrating) way than IVs do.
