If there was no nitpicking with each of the games, compared to the other games in the recent years the games are full and polished aside from the dreaded 20fps. We're quite lucky to not have EA/Ubisoft tier developers, yet.

Alright region was turned into shit with a huge amount of caves. Coupled with the awful story it's almost insufferable to play through. It's saving grace is the post game, but getting to it is a nightmare. This is just my opinion though. Also, it does have the best soundtrack in the whole series.

BW is pretty bad for a recent game. Gen 5 on itself was heavily dependent on online and/or wireless to have the full experience. You could go play now and you would not get pokémons from Dream World, C-gear skins, Black City/White Forest would be empty, etc. And BW got no post game, so yeah.

The closest games to being bad are 1st gen ones due to many problems they had.

The quality of later games has improved after first generation.

The things like pokemon, music, story and regions are very subjective matter. Nostalgia and our preferences usually defines what we like and what we dislike.

Gen 5 was the first one to make higher level breeding feasible. That was a large part of the postgame.

I forget exactly why it was, but I felt that Diamond and Pearl were pretty lacking in areas that Platinum fixed on. Also, the extremely long slow time whenever you take a Pokemon from the PC or catch one and have it sent to your box was just awful.

Also, GSC had bad level scaling and a poor wild Pokemon distribution.

Pretty much just this. The slow framerate and battle processing time and questionable decisions like making Surf walking speed in an already slow-running game makes them really hard to stick with. At least Platinum was able to fix some things up and give Sinnoh a needed overhaul.

Not a single gamebreaking one. They basically had to be deliberately done. They mew glitch wasn't even known about until like, what, a decade after the games were released?

I prefer the types and mons to be balanced too, but it's irrelevent to the quality of the single player game especially. They've never been balanced.

I don't consider any games that are the first of its respective generation bad. I can't give the "third version" games that much credit for taking an already completed game and slapping some features into it with an extra year+ of dev time.
