It shows an Unown-A instead of Suicune.

So what's your headcanon about the Unown and Suicune thing in the intro? It's not part of Crystal's storyline, after all.

I'm surprised they didn't try to do something with that sort of thing again. After all, practically everyone has an Android/iOS device. Some way to interact with an app on those would be neat.

10 years ago, there wasn't a disassembly of the game on GitHub to make it easier for people with knowledge of programming to look things up. That's how this title screen was found: https://github.com/kanzure/pokecrystal/blob/master/misc/unused_title.asm

The disassembly also has the code for the mobile phone system of the Japanese version.

You'd be surprised what people miss. It was only discovered a few months ago that Body Slam couldn't paralyze normal types in Red and Blue.

Apparently, the game is coded in a way that attacks with a % of inflicting a status effect will never do the status affect against a Pokemon with the same type as the attack. Supposedly, it's because these were the only attacks that could BRN or FRZ, so it was easier than hardcoding an immunity for Fire/Ice types.

They caught Tri-attack, but apparently forgot about Body Slam.

Did you also know that Fire Blast had 20% to burn in G1, but that was halved for G2 and later? Making it one of the very few moves whose secondary effect got less likely.

Dude. This was a plain attack in G1, and in G2 it overrode burn and freeze immunities of the types that should be immune to those ailments.

Pokemon in Japan has always skewed significantly younger than it does in America. I remember when I was in middle school and Pokemon was at its peak, the Japanese exchange students found it bizarre that people older than 8 were playing it. (in America, it tends to taget 6-12 year olds)

Yeah, it was poor choice of words on my part. The Scale has the normal effect and the Fang's effect, making the latter useless despite the item's description. It was fixed in Stad2.

Pocket Monsters 2 = Gold and Silver

They were meant to be sequels and are. Blue is the sister game to Red and Green, released along the November 1996 issue of CoroCoro and available to subscribers by mail order only. Gold and Silver were meant to be released on March 1998 but Game Freak suddenly postponed it indefinitely until they had made the games good enough. In the meantime, the change of plans then led to Yellow on September 1998 and Gold and Silver were now set for a June 1999 release but were delayed until November 1999. Since the Game Boy Color only came out on October 1998, this means that Gold and Silver weren't going to have Game Boy Color support had Game Freak kept the original release date.

but suicune is
it's no longer just a plain roaming beast in crystal, now you find it several times before challenging it while Eusine keeps orgasming about it.
As for unown they were just a misterious part of the lore that you'd find right at the beginning but turns out they were nothing more than easy-way to explain the new hidden powers.

That's why at the end you'd face red, and there's and johto pokemon are so rare, because johto was not created as a standalone region, but as an expansion of kanto (even though kanto was not planned to be accessible in the game at the start), so it had kanto pokemon plus "super rare pokemon never seen before" - johto mons.
