And why announce it now, a month early? You'd think that it would start alongside the reveal, and wouldn't be announced so far in advance.
Seems to be to be a very standard Pokemon Center event, and not a particularly interesting one.
Who knows, maybe in the end you'll turn out to be right. But given the information that we have so far, this just doesn't seem worth getting excited over.
