>>23496128So what are your thoughts on Ice, as a type? I think a major problem all Ice-types have is that, on the whole, they're slow Pokemon and don't necessarily have the bulk to make up for that. Yes, Weavile and Froslass exist. But Froslass' other highest stats are, at most, 80 while Speed is 105.
There's also the fact that the type is painfully weak to Fire and Fighting, two common types which really hurt them especially when paired with Grass or Rock.
People say "lel le defensive Ice-type meme xD", but you need to remember it's not just how many weaknesses or resistances or whatever are available. It's how many moves and Pokemon of that type are available.
A lot of Pokemon can learn Earthquake, which makes even non-Ground-types sufficient counters to Electric-types. And the fact that Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, etc. are relegated to TMs further extends the range of coverage of a lot of moves including Ice Beam. So not only are a lot more Pokemon able to counter Ice-types, there's also a lot more Pokemon able to fill the niche Ice-types tend to possess.
Any thoughts on this analysis, or anything anyone wants to add?
