I mean really, the game completely shifts and tone and throws in memes and even in the end it isn't complete. Great first hour, goes down hill from there.

My favorite is Pokemon Identity. Cheesy story aside, it has some really great use of scripting. Too bad it will never be complete.

I started doing a let's play of this, and it's unfortunately obvious that it started as a guy making some coolish zombie pokemon sprites and then trying to bash out a project using them. There's some cool bits here and there but it's not worth slogging through the crap to get to them.

Is there any fangame that stays dark & edgy all throughout? Insurgence and Rejuvination are full of silly bubbly special snowflakes. Snakewood's author drops the grimdark thing really early on. And I think True Color of the Moon is satire.

Quite possibly the most interesting ROMhack I've played, keeps you guessing throughout due to having almost an entirely new dex, only let down by some genuinely frustrating moments and the glitch that prevents you from facing the final boss if you accessed the battle island prematurely.

If you want that, Reborn is pretty consistently edgy. If you can stomach the characters. The characters and the dialog are so fucking awful. The best character in the fucking game is basically a walking pride parade with a libido that puts the main character of any harem anime to shame.
