>>23497878Those sword ends are in reference to actual tridents, they provide a "tri" piece for the winged blades without compensating and making some bullshit extra blades. The three pieces form a union with the rest of his design such as the white belly, the trident/crown on this face, even the pronged collar.

Empoleon's extra design stuff actually fit the bill due to his regal inspirations, I fail to see how this is a bad design, the colors are relatively consistent, the silhouette is really fucking strong, I can look at him and see the steel and water type extremely easy, it's not a jagged mess, it's honestly just fine.
