Doesn't choice band flame charge make for a decent NU sweeper after you weaken the opponent's team? Just switch in on a wall such as Aromatisse.

Scarf Flare Blitz would also work but I'm not sure if it's any more damage. Also, recoil.

Flareon also gets guts + facade.

Flareon is my favorite pokemon, but he's a great example of tripping over the finish line.

Fire is a shit type both offensively and defensively. Hes got huge attack and decent special but he's not fast enough to be a sweeper. He's also squishy even for an eeveelution so no dice there.

Fire up the flare blitz and hope your opponent doesn't have something that resists fire

That's because you're not meant to sweep turn one. If your opponent has something that resists fire, you take it out before attempting a flare blitz sweep. Same thing if your opponent has a strong priority move, etc.

Defensively it's still pretty bad, despite the new fairy resist. Fairy resist is nice, but it's not enough to make up for water, rock, and ground weaknesses, all very bad types to be weak to. It's not bad offensively, though. Not stellar, but not bad.

Flareon does have moves now. This proved that its stats are the problem. They're all wonky. I've made use for its wonky stats on a Doubles team, but it's shit in singles, and still requires support in Doubles.

Levitate Bronzong makes a great partner as it's able to use Trick Room and set up Reflect. Also they share no weaknesses to spread moves unless Gravity is in effect. Overheat provides a one-time special nuke or way around King's Shield's attack drop, and Superpower is to hit rock types or Heatran.

It gets worn down pretty quickly, so it comes down to "can I switch something in safely or should I let it die?" after a few hard hits

You can take off the special attack EVs and Overheat if you want WoW, but I find being able to nail Aegislash more satisfying

Enjoy Pokemon with decent speed that can Head Smash and Flare Blitz all day everyday without worrying about recoil.
