True, Pokémon does experiment with spin-offs, but Digimon equally has lenty of spin-offs, heck, one could say Digimon is based more on it's spin-offs than its "main" series.
Digimon has had two pinball games, one physical, one online. On the topic of exclusive spin-offs Digimon has had a fighting game (and possibly more since) on the PS1, Pokémon has so far only had sneak peeks of one.
Pokémon's story has been the same since 1994.
