>>23508768That was Sakurai and his team's choice though. It's been stated many times that they had many options for a Gen VI rep, and they all liked Greninja.
GF's push is limited to giving it an ability that allowed it to hit harder that a glob of cotton. If game performance is your measurment of push, then it's safe to say Talonflame and Aegislash and the legendaries (of course) outshined it, yet you don't see those nearly as much as you see the frog.
>>23513496>they even told the anime staff that Ash needed to capture Frokie. This is preferable. The last time Ash got all 3 Starters, they ALL ended up shit (Unova), and the first time it happened it was obvious who was the only one they cared about (Kanto). At least when they spread the starters to the companions, they all get a chance at development. The only time this didn't happen was with the quite hideous treatment of brock's mudkip. Gen VI starters, barring Smash appearances (which are unofficial and ergo, unrelated) have been pretty equally distributed. Anime protagonist has Froakie; Manga protagonist has Chespin; and Fennekin... well it's Fennekin. I guess it stands on its own. I guess you could say it had the earliest 3rd Stage anime appearance. And they've all been getting merchandise.
It's been said, it's as clear as water when GF is pushing a pokemon. This is not one of those cases, least for now. If Charizard is any indication, a couple of gens from now, Greninja will get two megas and an anime special to its name.
