Say all cats didn't come from the same couple of African wildcats. A new species is made when a group breeds only with themselves exclusively until their genetics are so different from the rest of the group that they can't breed and are no longer considered the same species.
Another interesting scenario is when a species goes a very long time without branching. Take the tuatara for example which has been the only species of order that is still alive for a very long time without branching into seperate species.
However it is kind of wrong to say that an ancient tuatara and a living one is the same species, since the tuatara's genetics has changed a lot and an ancient one would likely not be able to breed with a living one today.
Two newly revived Tyrunt would not have large enough genetic variety to reintroduce the species.
