There is now a set of items that, when held, nullify attacking moves of a certain type at the cost of user taking damage similar to Life Orb.
How does this change the meta?

it changes it quite a lot if not too much, may pokemon would profit from it by quite a lot and I'm not sure if taking life orb damage would be enough to even that out, maybe attack and special attack being dropped by one stage would be better so it's harder to make a team sweeping monster and rather have it used defensively

There are more ways of getting past mons than using 4x attacks. Not that scrubs frequenting this board would know.
