OK /vp/, we all know that GameFreak more or less fucked up with some Mega Evolution's stats, specifically the ones where useless points were put into Special Attack on a Physical Attacker, or the other way around.

Here's a list of the messed up ones, and how many points were wasted for them. This thread is about fixing these, and placing the missing stats into something that for one, is actually useful to the Pokemon, and two, doesn't instantly make it broken.

physical charizard Y is a thing because sun boosts fire attacks. Sceptile should probably be added to your list though because swords dance mega sceptile sucks and it really would've liked those points for more special attack.

I'm not saying they're bad pokemon or anything. But these Pokemon literally never used their mixed attacking stats, besides shit like Blastoise with Rapid Spin which doesn't really count.

The challenge is to make them not broken, and while some are very hard to do this with, it's still possible

The problem with many of these are that they have abilites they can't properly take advantage of, or abilities that just pstraight out suck. Like Aerodactyl, Alakazam, Banette and Blastoise.
Giving Mega evolutions the possibility of having two abilities would potentially fix a lot of the mediocre ones.

That said, Alakazam should get its deserved +10 extra BS for the Mega.

Blastoise has Aqua Jet aswell.
This thread better no turn into a make muh Smogon Singles mega.
Charizard-Y is still a thing as mixed, so is occasionally Overheat / Fire Blast Charizard-X and even Hidden Power.
Swampert can be still used in Doubles with Muddy Water.

You can't be fucking serious. It allready has Psyshock to pull of a mixed set and Hyper Voice outdamages Return on foes that have equal defensive stats regardless. Not to mention Psyshock can be boosted by Calm Mind while Garde has no method to boost it's attack.

It also doesn't help that Diancie and Altaria are superior options for mixed Fairy megas when it comes to base stats. Just stop being a complete shitter and realize that those +20 points in Attack were completely wasted and serve absolutely no benefits to be worth using.

Shadow Sneak and Return/Facade are pretty the only possible options for a mixed Gardevoir where Shadow Sneak isn't even something that makes it mixedsince it is more of a utility mov and requires specific devoted EVs.

It was likely either an attempt at leveraging for more options (Mixed Zards, Latios) or trying to add personality/quirks to represent the changes the pokemon itself goes through (Mewtwo Y losing defense since it gets scrawnier).

I'm willing to let those go, but the real travesty is when the added stats barely make it any better in total.

The increased attack is probably for useful high BP coverage moves like Earthquake and Iron Tail and to make it's Leaf Blade slightly stronger than unboosted regular Sceptile. Mega Sceptile really should've gotten Tough Claws though if they were never going expand it's shallow special movepool and give it moves to increase it's special attack in the first place. Hell, I would've loved a Tough Claws mon that actually gets STAB on Grass Knot unlike Megagross. And Sceptile would be able to hit decently hard in both sides. Fuck Lightning Rod man.

sceptile's main issue is that it can't hit things hard enough, not lack of coverage (grass + dragon + fighting is good enough). They should've removed that shit from his attack and put it in special attack. If they really wanted to give it a good unique ability they should've given it tinted lens.

I've honestly never seen the deal with Mega Absol, it's too frail to take full advantage of Magic Bounce, and needs a turn to Mega. I've personally have had much more success with Espeon.

Because it's not very good, unfortunately. With Absol being my favorite Pokémon, I sort of wish it just got a normal evolution first and then a mega because it has always been just a mediocre UU thing. Still, there are worse places to be and it wasn't useless like most things that got an additional evolution later.

the problem with suckerpunch is usually opponents setting up, not opponents using status moves. Magic bounce does nothing to prevent your opponent from dragon dancing.

Leave it tbh, it can hurt for with Dragon Tail. Wouldn't hurt to move it to Speed though.

That 115 itemless Special Attack is really putting in work.

Admittedly, in other metagames, Fire Blast (and Ice Beam in OU) gets noticeably more use. Though Absols are a bit scarce there.

I kinda like that Mega Gardevoir is still effective despite sitting in the rather crowded (and slightly behind the times) 100 speed tier. I'd rather just see the attack shifted into bulk.

Thats cause its the only offensive fairy mega that doesn't need to go mixed. It can run Timid or Modest since Psyshock runs through it's special attack wheras Diancie and Altaria(sets with EQ and Fire Blast) need to run defense lowering natures so their best coverage/STAB wouldn't be weakened.
