I never liked Chespin. I always loved Fennekin and then settled with the Froakie line after seeing Fennekin's evolution line (I didn't really like humanoid Pokemon at the time)

I can't remember the trip of the guy who was leaking shit so I don't have our initial reaction. However Delphox was the least popular by a country mile in all the polls after the leak and those who deny this are likely revisionist furfags.

According to this, positive opinion was favored on /vp/. With over 50% thinking it was at least good and over 70% finding it at least okay. There were obviously a fair amount of haters but I think it's safe to say Chesnaught is squarely in mid tier as far as starter love goes.

For me at least, this is the first generation where each of the three starters seemed like an equally good and hard choice to pick from.

But I'm sort of the guy who picks up pokemon based on "it looks cool/it will become cool."

I disregarded the Hoenn starters and used a Chespin. Felt pretty great. Also used a Froakie. It's weird how the newest gen only has two starters.

I don't think the design is that bad. I just don't like the color scheme, mostly.

I really don't like Delphox's design. It's the stupid ear things that get me. What the fuck are they even? But even overlooking that, the design in general just looks weird. It's like an old shaggy fox. This was the first gen where my first starter wasn't the fire type, which is kinda disappointing.

But really, all the Gen VI starters are shittons better than the awful Gen V starters.

That was my main issue with Serperior and Samurott, that they were just single types. And then Emboar was yet another Fire/Fighting type, and easily the worst one.

Really underwhelming considering the Gen IV starters before it had really cool type combinations. And just looked cool all around.

Samurott could've been Water/Steel at least since it was supposed to be like a samurai.

Don't know what Serperior could've been.
