XY is a new region with new pokémon. Even good dificulty, if you turn off the exp share.

ORAS is a poor man's Emerald with a poor regional dex. Mind numbingly easy even with the exp share turned off.

Getting a game just for the megastones is retarded. Might as well go play Showdown.

XY is a shit region with an addition of less than 100 new Pokemon, a lot of which with kinda shitty designs and gimmicky competitive use at best. I prefer playing on cart because that's just how I prefer. I enjoyed my playthrough of ORAS thoroughly, seeing it as a memory lane stroll (and I do mean stroll) and then access to a more convenient meta with expanded opportunity. What I really don't like about some people who gate gen 6 because it introduces 70 new pokemon is that it seems like only the amount affects them, instead of realizing that the amount of pokemon are actually dense with very good competitive pokemon and they are all memorable. I did hear that the artist got a block during the creation of the pokemon but it just seems like they put a lot of effort into each pokemon individually.

Do another playthrough of XY, then immediately after, another playthrough of ORAS. Because XY is shit in terms of just about everything.
