If you notice in a lot of advertising it is common to use the colours red and yellow because they gain the most attention from the human mind.

Look in your pantry and you will notice lots of the packaging has red or yellow writing.

It's the evolved form of their beloved mascot. Because of that, GF can't make Pikachu stronger, and have to throw in special moves and even an item that doubles its attack power. Pretty much this, all these people on /vp/ hate on smogon but they have smogon mentality drilled into their brain. They think that everything has to be balanced and don't realize things are made shit for a reason, because this is an RPG first above all else.

Plus Game Freak is now actively denying Raichu the buffs Pikachu gets. Pikachu's special treatment in ORAS is the costumes with their special moves, which of course can't transfer to Raichu since they can't evolve.

The costumes probably won't matter years from now after they're stuck in ORAS like Spiky-Eared Pichu in HGSS, but it sets a nasty precedent.
