new pokemon designs are so full of edginess its not even funny anymore, did you know that when the first game came out, japanese people thought the games wouldnt work for a western audience because pokemon were 2QT4U?
then when they began to cater to westerns with the whole nintendo deal pokemon designs started decaying with R/S games

I like the originals also because not everything is complicated and because the storylines are 3times better in my opinion (not so tryhard)
I will love pokemon until the day I die but now there are so many legendaries and there's people who take battles too seriously :-V
whatever the case every pokemon game is a great game

Natures were a decent idea, helped with immersion and are probably the least hidden of all hidden stats thanks to the fact that the relevant stats are highlighted in the summary screen.

Completely agreed with IVs though. Who's brilliant idea was to DOUBLE the amount of IVs in the first place?

I heavily dislike Gen 5, and it's not about the Pokemon. I disliked the motif, which felt sterile to me. Gen 4 was warm and cozy, from the menus to the overworld to the NPC sprites, while Gen 5 felt like the complete opposite. I disliked the sprites, which looked poorly done/animated to me. The menus had some kind of cyber theme, which I saw as sharp and unfeeling. More effort towards a more 3D-oriented overworld made things feel jagged. Funny thing is that Alder is my favorite champion, but he got the TOTAL shaft in the story. There weren't any legendaries that I found appealing. The starters missed the mark for me. The Pokemon I DID like either ended up weak as shit (Simisage, Carracosta) or prohibitively hard to obtain (Braviary).

I'm sure that plenty of people find the games great, but I'm not one of them, and I'm not going to apologize for it either. We all have different tastes and different favorite games, which is something that Gen V fans REALLY need to learn. It's getting obnoxious.

If I like the basic concept of the series as a whole, then yes. Obviously some titles of a series are allowed to be stronger than others, but I don't dismiss the "worse" ones and still take the time to see what good they have.
For example I prefer Jak and Daxter > Jak 3 > Jak II, but that's not to say I hate Jak II, in fact I still like it and recognize its unique aspects

Gen I, II, and IV were high points for me.

Gen III is when shit started to go down (But FRLG and Colosseum helped a little), Gen V was also a low point and is probably my least favorite Gen for several reasons (Although BW2 is excellent, I will say).

Gen VI started out strong, but lack of content and ORAS in general. Maybe if it wasn't a damn yearly franchise now and they actually focused on the quality and content, it would not be such a clusterfuck.

Call me crazy, but I love all the games. The only one I didn't like was ruby and sapphire. With the remake though I'm really digging it. Nothing beats the feels I had for gen1 when I was a wee lad, but every new game always gives me a sense of joy with a new adventure before me and a new starter to help me wipe out whatever lame ass champion who has so foolishly taken my rightful place as champion.

Straight line at the top except for a 25%% dip in Gen 5 because of the poopy animated sprites, and also because that's when I discovered pokesav and didn't truly enjoy the games. Right now I'm re-playing B2. I had 300+ hours in gold (RIP corrupt file bros) 350+ on Ruby (still have it) 250+ on Diamond (yes I loved it and only recently played platinum) and nearing 300 on my Y. Also I was a serial legendary user until the end of Gen 5, now they're just trophies to me. I own every cartridge except AS, have a complete 719 owned on that Y. Can't wait for some more Kalos!

Middle point for Gen 3 is Colosseum. My peak enjoyment was D/P, despite all of its flaws. The Pokemon craze had died out prior and it was cool to actually be able to battle/trade/chill with people offline about it. The online factor was also pretty sweet.

My HGSS experiences took a hit as a result of that height since it ended up being exclusively an offline experience. By Gen 5, I had burned out. I didn't play Black 2 until right before jumping into X. Black 2 failed to make any real waves, but X got me back into loving Pokemon all over again.

I don't hate any of the games.

I think part of the reason I enjoyed Gen 5 was so much *was* because of how cold the atmosphere was. Unova is basically the idealistic version of Kanto which had the same kind of atmosphere except with a lot more shady shit and pollution, but that's what interested me. I think the comfy regions like Johto and Sinnoh are cool, but I really like the urbanized ones as well; however, I can see why that's a turn off to some people.

I do draw the line at B/B2's version of Opelucid City, though. That palette was a total eyesore.

I can say with honesty that I only enjoyed the pokemon series after gen 3 was released. It makes for a much better experience playing today, considering the saving and not being able to trade into future gens which ruin the gen 1 and 2.

Didn't even buy ORAS on the sole fact that the single player was going to assuredly be retardedly easy. Probably won't buy another pokemon game until they come with proper hard modes. (challenge mode in BW2 still wasn't that hard and should have been the normal difficulty)

I understand that it had some major issues with game speed and save time but the very fact that it introduced the most important change in game mechanics of the entire series means that it should be forgiven for its fuckups, most of which were fixed in Platinum. Gen IV isn't even my favourite gen but I can't see myself playing a game without the physical/special split

But most of my love of B/W is directed at B2/W2.
The fact of the matter is the only gen 3 pokemon i even like are grovyle and the trapinch family.
And that was not enough to carry a whole gen for me, hell, I couldn't even get through the remakes without trading in a couple psuedo starters.
Those games man, when i think of playing them again all i feel is despair. I have no idea why they seem so popular around these parts but i guess that's my loss.

I remember looking forward to G/S, but liked it less and less as I got to play it. The Day/Night and days of the week system did nothing for me but stop me from doing things when I wanted to do them. First game I ever played where I was on the game's schedule. Bad experience and bad precedent. Even today I'm bitter that I can't even play my Gold because of the battery issues, which were only needed because of the blasted day/night gimmick.
Also, grinding on underleveled elite four wasn't fun.

Gen 4 just...isn't good. Gen 3 was very flawed but still a solid experience. Gen 4 was just so forgettable, felt like a rehash of the previous 3 gens. Didn't really do much except transition the series to 2.5D and mess up arguably the best battling experience in terms of fairness. Gen 5 is an improvement but the series as a whole really went downhill during R/S. Gen 6 is all over the place for me, an improvement but still very 50/50 with me.

HG/SS was fucking great though

You can replace the batteries in GSC/RSE with a CR2025 battery and some electrical tape, or soldering. I like how my Silver battery only lasted about 8 years while my Legend of Zelda NES battery still works after 25 years.

That's true, but it wouldn't get back the 24 lvl 100s I had accumulated on Gold. Sava data got corrupted when I was playing around with the innards. Now I'd rather just play Heart Gold.

Yeah, I only played Silver again for a little while before moving on. HGSS is pretty much a definitive remake for the most part, the same unfortunately can't be said of ORAS compared to RSE.

Thank god they moved on to flash memory, imagine having to replace batteries in DS cartridges.

Honestly, Gen 3 had a lot of problems to begin with. ORAS just exposed all of them. I replayed Sapphire after playing the remakes and a lot of the same problems were present. Difference is Emerald came out and fixed things up. ORAS doesn't have that.

G/S had few problems to begin with so the remakes had less to improve upon. It turned a good game into an even better one.

I seriously hate Hoenn. Could not stand all that water. Nor leaving my Pokemon to rot in Gen II. It nearly killed my interest in Pokemon until I got Diamond. Then I was totally back in. The Wifi aspect finally made those event pokemon obtainable. I could actually catch them all. HG/SS was like being a kid again. I got into competitive pokemon. Then Gen V happened. It was just okay. I'm trying to give B2 a chance right now, but I'm not feeling it. Never played X and Y. Will never play the Hoenn Remakes.
