gen 1: the introduction. GF tries to show us different types of "monster" (that's the name of the game yo):
>venusaur, the unknown weird creature, simultaneously neither old nor new
>charizard, the old classical dragon
>blastoise, the new half-mechanical creature
venusaur is cool, the others are meh, i'm kinda tired of seeing them all the time.
gen 2: GF tries to prove monsters don't always have to be hideous or just plain cute. the idea is to expand on the old designs and give us new stuff. so they give us types of monster again:
>meganium, the derpy "dinosaury" plant thing
>typhlosion, the friendly other thing literally on fire
>feraligatr, the fearful and menacing crocodile
eh they're all pretty boring imo. feraligatr is the only that kinda stands out.
gen 3: new beginnings, we leave the two regions for a new one with no trading with the old games. new themes. now for the first time these are 100% animal based
>sceptile, the geecko that lives in the woods
>blaziken, the fighting chicken that's the only hot blooded animal here
>swampert, the mudskipper that lives in swamps
they all look pretty good honestly.
gen 4: extreme legendary theme. we go to the end of the world, we meet the gods of time and space and whatever the fuck giratina is supposed to be. you get the idea.
>torterra, a turtle that carries the fucking earth on its back
>infernape, sun wukong, google that shit i ain't gonna explain it
>empoleon, a penguin (the only animal living in antarctica, "the end of the world") half based of poseidon and napoleon
i like them tbh, both by themes and looks.
