All three Johto games were awful, the second worst in the entire series after DP, but the improvements gen II brought to the franchise in terms of mechanics independent of the region and single player quest that carried over to the rest of the series were the most important and numerous.

White is better than Black. Little differences and Zekrom instead of Reshiram compliment the main game nicely considering how urban Unova is and how the plot plays out.

Yes, by upping the levels of all wild, trainers, gyms and E4.

The only issue with gen 2 is the low level curve.

I swear to god I will never understand why most of /vp/ seems to hate Yellow. The only "anime pandering" the game has is that a couple of regular Rocket grunts have been replaced with Jessie & James and you get a Pikachu as your starter, which hardly even matters since you can get all the normal starters during the story. That's it. Other than that, the sprites are superior, most Gym Leaders and E4 members have greatly improved movesets on their Pokemon and their teams are also at higher levels, many glitches are fixed, and also some movepool issues are fixed (for example Charizard is able to learn Fly). I can understand that many people hate Pikachu, but Yellow is objectively better than Red/Blue in every other way.

You're not forced to carry all of them you dingus. You can choose one, two, or all three, and that's the best thing about it.

Yes, many people choose Charmander. Fly is an excellent addition for Charizard and expanded movepools are always a good thing.

Tell that to Golbat, Golem, Gastly, Haunter, Mew, Koffing, Kingler. Exeggcute, Moltres...

the level scaling is really off putting , if I remember correctly, a normal playthrough gets you 4-6 mid to late 30 pokemon after beating the eigth gym leader

There's just something about generation 2 that's so beautiful and idyllic.

The visuals are excellent, they're neither colorless pixelated puke like gen 1, nor saturated-bright sprites like in gen 3.

It's a comfy, melancholy game, especially at night time.
