Sort of, less sobbing though at first, the character sorts of accepts what is going to happen and just goes along. Other characters pretty much accept it too. Not that much sobbing in general from the main character or the partner

I think EoS did it better by having you die rather than going back like in BRT, but they bring you back way too quickly in both. GtI had the right idea by having you play the partner for a while.

I think it's a great tool for making the player feeling more invested in the silent protagonist. Easier to imagine yourself being thrust into a different world in a different body rather than simply being born there. Self-insert reasons are kind of sad, but it works in PMD fairly well.

One of the things I liked was being able to have non starters as starters. It was fun playing as Cubone and Machop and Pysduck and Meowth in on the gba, and fun playing as Vulpix, and Phanpy and Eevee and Munchlax and Meowth in the second.

The player characters in PMD aren't truly silent protagonists though, since they do convey their thoughts/have significant direct dialogue in the endings.(not sure how GtI did it, haven't played it)

I hope they get rid of the thought bubbles and just do direct dialogue, but I guess that's part of being a blank slate character.

Wasn't the biggest problem the extremely slow text scrolling? It looks like they at least fixed that in the trailer, altough it might have been a problem solely in the localization.(which was pretty damn awful by the way)

I can only think of once, which is the bulletin in BRT when you get back to the town after being a fugitive. I don't think the second set of games ever did.

It's pretty lame to remove them altogether from the English version just because the localization team can't insert some pronouns though.

What went wrong with Gates to Infinity? I heard a lot of fans saying the game is garbage, but I forget why.

Wasn't that much of a deus ex machina since I guess the god of time would have the power to revive people who had been deleted by time.

Still, in the other games, it never really felt like you left given it plays out as 'You're gone/dead! Lol jk!' Gates showed the effects of it by having you play as the partner, and I really felt for the partner there, so the ending felt like it actually meant something.

The music was one of the only reasons I liked Gates. I knew if another 3DS PMD were to be made, it would use the same engine and would restore more features. It also showed that the 3DS MD games can have amazing music as well. I am more than hyped for the new one.

That sounds fucking hilarious. I like the idea of legendaries being superheroes and supervillains of the Pokemon world.
