Poison isn't a shitty type anymore: Ice or Grass have far more problems, it just lacks strong mons.

It has even less coverage than steel offensively and it's no good for combatting grass since half of the grass types are resistant to poison somehow and fire, ice, flying and bug moves have more range. Poison should SE against either flying or water to nerf those types and give poison more range

There are some amazing poison types, but most of them just cannot break the barrier into OU so people think they are shit.

This ain't gen 1 anymore. Poison is actually one of the better types, it just doesn't have that many decent-to-good Pokemon with combination of good abilitiy, movepool and stat distribution. Lack of Poison-type legendaries doesn't help.
