Why is it that everyone wants a remake of Pokemon Yellow?

Why did everyone want Hoenn Remakes so badly?

Honestly, GF does a much better job creating brand new original pokemon games. I get wanting to go back to Kanto, but why can't we just do it in a way like Gold/Silver did, and pop those old regions into a new game, and update them accordingly.
