They were good remakes however they failed to keep me interested after beating the game for a long time.
Long answer:
ORAS, to me, were good RS remakes. They improved on many different aspects of the old games (for example characters and Secret Bases), added some features (for example PokeNav Plus and soaring) and actually helped generation 6 by giving access to previously unavailable Pokemon (HA Dragalge and some legendaries).
However, I think ORAS could have better presentation. Music, while good to me, was repetitive (especially Rustboro/Mauville/Mosdeep theme). Additionally, I would love more locations like Sea Mauville (that place was interesting to me).
Lack of a new lengthy postgame is what killed my interest in ORAS. Still, these are remakes so I did not expect something groundbreaking. I do expect it from the next game(s) though.
>>23593861HGSS is loved by majority of people here. Diamond and Pearl were replaced by Platinum, which is also liked by many people. And then there are spin-offs such as PMD: EOS.
If anything, gen 4 is the least hated generation.
