Onix is pretty shit good luck accomplishing anything with less physical attack than Butterfree, Golem and Rhydon's defenses are more than adequate, and they have much better stats across the board comparitively, as well as nicer movepools.

High speed stat while using Slash is like a 100% critical hit if I remember correctly. And of course you're attacking before other pokemon.
Persian was a sweeper without setup.

Yeah I just looked it up and Persian using slash had a 179.9% chance to critical hit. Because Gen1 is shit this is rounded down to 99.6.
Thanks to slash and other high crit moves like razor leaf being stupidly overpowered though, there are actually quite a lot of pokemon capable of hitting that ~100% crit rate, but Persian is the best pokemon capable of getting that delicious STAB bonus from Slash on top of the critical hit, as well as still outspeeding most opposition.

Nigga really. Did you forget that the special stat was also offence and it has base 105.

Tauros/Chansey/Rhydon/Gengar/Zapdos/Alakazam or nothing.
