About the laws, Italy is a clusterfuck. I mean, it's no ruthless wasteland, but in everyday life some people tend to "bend" them. For example, if you're not 16 yo you can't by cigarettes, but many stores sell them without checking your age. Same about alchol, I never heard of someone checking your age here (although, at least where I live, juvenile alcholism isn't that big of an issue).
Also, in Italy you can marry your cousin (i.e. the daughter of your mother's sister, for example)
