I honestly didn't give a shit. "Turned to stone" is rarely fatal in fiction. Unless you see them smash the stone person to peices, it's usually just an extended time-out. Only in this case, it didn't even last 10 minutes.

I think it's cute, but shinies being rejected for being different is a pretty dumb headcanon. I'm sure that shiny Pokemon are just as loved, if not, more loved.

actually, in the wild a mutation like that would be deadly. often an animal's coloration helps it to camouflage, if it's an unnatural color for its species it won't be able to avoid predators

The comic actually says this explicitly.

This doesn't actually explain why shiny pokemon are so rare, though. Because Apex Predators would have more shinies than prey animals, but they don't.
