I agree with this. Prune your shit.

Also, it seems too open-ended. Pokemon-style games are inherently linear, and many cities on this map connect to three other cities. This will probably force you to rely too much on roadblocks, and they get old quickly. Just prune some cities, maybe that entire middle section except for maybe that shortcut across, and give Fly early.

That being said I like how the map isn't so linear. I can see a lot of backtracking having to happen in the game which could be a good thing. One small detail about the pokemon games that always irked me was the lack of detail put into town making. Your tile work is REALLY good too. Africa is also a great continent to base a region off of. You'd have access to all different terrain types ensuring a wide range of pikemon types befoee you reach the E4. Tell me more about your region. Are you making your own pokemon for it? If not do you start with national dex?....do you need help¿

Can you post the template you used to make this map? It looks nice.

As for your map, I like the overall shape of the routes and cities, but Iwould go with a much more smaller part of Africa rather than the whole continent. The end also should be a bit pointier.
